Liverpool about to follow the example of Southern. Admittedly Merseyrail aren't as bad generally as Southern appear to be, but the RMT were out picketing today on the Strand.

I'd have thought they'd be plenty of youngsters willing to look after the doors, for Merseyrail, assuming a shellsuit is their current uniform.

No bloody trains for 6 weeks after Christmas on Merseyrail so I won't know if they are on strike or not.

Yep. Will have to use this. I always used to but it's a pain if you miss one (or if it's foggy).

£5 to open and shut doors per passenger is quite steep even by today's standards.

Was on the DLR this evening thinking the very same.And to think there was talk of Brighton having an aerial monorail-presumably also driverless.Would now give it another 100 years.

Driverless trains is the way forward.

But it's all about job protection, heaven forbid a unionised industry may have to retrain.
