I presume the anonymous Sodexo worker talking to the Guardian is not as anonymous as he believes.

Looking forward to the report from their intrusion into worker's privacy. Perhaps that they drink, gamble, swear, joke and besmirch.

Sounds like he same kind of data collection that councils have been doing for 20+ years.

And they aren't using drones, the article states it

After publication of this article on Thursday, a Sodexo spokesperson said: “Sodexo would like to clarify that there is no use of drones at any of the Rio Tinto sites in the Pilbara, and that all data collected is in line with both Australian government legislation and Rio Tinto privacy policies.

“The comments in regards to future technology [are] conceptual only and there are no intentions to introduce any of these concepts to Rio Tinto sites.”

article doesnt really match the head line. they're experimenting with drones, presumably to do aerial site reconnaissance.
