Brighton & Hove Albion Powerchair FC are playing in the WFA Cup in Brighton next weekend

Brighton & Hove Albion Powerchair FC are playing in the WFA Cup against Aspire PFC at the University of Brighton next weekend.

The team, which compete in the top division of the national powerchair league and, as many of you will know, took part in the European Champions Cup earlier this season, play their league games in Nottingham, making next weekend's game a rare chance for Albion fans to watch the team live in Brighton.

Aspire are also one of the top teams in the country and it should be a fantastic game.

Entry is free but strictly ticket only. There will be seating set up at the venue, which is just less than five minutes from the American Express Community Stadium.

To request a ticket simply email: fundraising@albioninthecommunity.org.uk with the subject heading: Powerchair cup game. Albion in the Community will then be in touch next week to confirm who has a ticket. Parking will be available.

The team have made a brilliant start to the season and it would be great to see some Albion fans go along to cheer them on.

For anyone who missed it, the team's captain and coach were both guests on the Albion Roar at the weekend.

Forgive the silly question, but why do they play league games in Nottingham?

Forgive the silly question, but why do they play league games in Nottingham?

Reasonable question - its because Nottingham is central England. With 12 teams in the Premiership, that's 22 matches. It is all paid for by the parents/players, and we can't afford 11 weekends away, and 11 at home over the season, so we all meet in Nottingham over 5/6 weekends, playing 4-5 matches each weekend. Only the cup games are home/away. Last season we had Newcastle, so they came down to us.
