Albion U-23s face West Ham United in their latest Premier League Cup Group E match tonight, kick-off 7pm at the Chigwell Construction Stadium (Victoria Road), Dagenham.

Albion beat Nottm Forest 7-0 in their first group match; in their second the game at St George's Park against Leicester City was abandoned after Elliott Moore was knocked unconscious in a collision with a teammate.

Teams:-

Albion Ankergren, Hunt, Cox, Collar, Hall, Hutchinson, Bjordal, Molumby, Duffus, Harper, Starkey. Subs: Barnett, Vose, Cadman, Ward, Tighe.

West Ham Spiegel; Westley, Pike, Rice (c), Neufville; Makasi, Quina; Parfitt-Williams, Browne, Samuelsen; Martinez. Subs: Sylvestre, Matrevics, Kemp, Diangana, Gordon.

The shocker here is that Jack Harper actually gets to start a fixture. He did start for what was largely an U-18 side against Hailsham Town in the Sussex Senior Cup, but other than that he hasn't been in the starting line-up since September 19th. Trialist Courtney Duffus (from Everton) is also in the starting XI.

Bloody nora.....Harper starts!!

I imagine West Ham might be a bit under strength if a few dev squad played against Man Utd last night.

As I have said AZ, look at length of contracts and if you care to know those to be released take a look at the subs bench .....

Samuelson was decent the couple times saw him play for Peterborough on loan. Norwegian international too.

That is Jayson Molumby's first goal for the club. Hopefully it won't be the last.

Great work by the person writing up the West Ham live blog:-

11: Good claim from Raphael Spiegel in goal there who releases quickly and gets the Hammers on the counter attack. Spiegel has been in great form for the PL2 side recently, making some impressive saves each time he turns out.

40: Goal for the visitors. Jason Molumby does well to arrive in the box right on cue from Cox's cross, and as he volleys towards goal, his effort is spilled by Raphael Spiegel and it slips through the stopper's body to squirm home. He'll be disappointed with that.

Watched Brighton 23s play West Ham last year. They had an outstanding forward who went out on loan to I think MK Dons. Wondered where he is now Anybody remember him

Does anybody have an unbiased view of Harper and his ability or shortfalls. Is he likely to have his contract extended, assuming it runs out June 17?

After the stat posted by AZ, you can assume there is no future here .....

Are you talking about Martin Samuelsen? Spent much of last season on loan at Peterborough and joined Blackburn on a season-long loan his year but returned to the Hammers just over a week ago due to lack of playing time.
