7:45pm Friday 18th November

Referee: Stephen Martin
Linesmen: Ian Cooper and Andrew Fox
Fourth Official: Andy Davies

Match Day referee Martin has officiated 14 games in 2016/17, showing 37 yellow cards and zero red cards.

Weather: Light Cloud 7 degrees and obviously dark.

This Friday’s Championship clash will witness two teams in top form in action as Brighton and Hove Albion welcome Aston Villa to the Falmer Stadium.

Brighton are arguably the team to beat in the league at this point after maintaining a 10 match unbeaten run. They defeated Bristol City in the last round fixture 2-0 away from home to pick up the fourth straight win and 8th win in their last 10. The Seagulls are currently second in the league table with 34 points from their 16 matches so far, 3 less than the leaders Newcastle United.

It seems like Aston Villa’s season campaign is back on track with the arrival of Steve Bruce as their manager. They are still at the bottom half of the table, at 14th with 21 points from 16 matches. But they are a much improved team after a horror start to the season after picking up 3 wins and 2 draws from their last 5 matches. The Villains defeated Blackburn 2-1 at home in their last round fixture.

Brighton winger Anthony Knockaert is expected to return after missing the 2-0 win at Bristol City following the death of his father.
A 63rd minute applause for Patrick Knockaert would be very much appreciated :albion2:

Brighton manager, Chris Hughton, can relax as his squad isn't particualrly troubled with injuries. Sharing 13 goals between them, Glenn Murrary and Sam Baldock are expected to start up front in a two man striker combination. Brighton also have the sturdiest defence this season, conceding just nine, so it's unlikely that Hughton will make any changes to his back four.

Jordan Ayew is unavailable for the Brighton match as he sustained an injury on international duty. Gabby Agbonlahor came on as a substitute in Villa's last game, so he offers an option up front if he's fit enough to start on Friday. Jack Grealish is proving his worth behind striker Ross McCormack so is likely ro retain his place as number ten.

Brighton vs Aston Villa: Head-to-Head Stats

The last meeting between the two sides has to be dated back to January 2010 in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Aston Villa earned a 3-2 win at the Villa Park on that occasion. That was also the first meeting between them since 1983.

Aston Villa lead the head-to-head record with 11 wins and 5 draws against Brighton’s 3 wins from 18 meetings.

Brighton’s home record against Villa in 8 matches is 3 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats.

**Brighton vs Aston Villa: Prediction**
This is a tough fixture to prediction as both teams are on excellent run of forms. The two sides will also cancel each other in terms of quality in all departments on the field. However, we know Brighton are a slightly better side at the moment. But Aston Villa’s ability to knick away draws will once again see this match ending in all square.

As for.....

Colin who......

Utter shambles of a match day thread. A disgrace. OP should be ashamed of himself. Unless we win.

....which we will. 2-0 to the good guys.

Ayew injured? Doesn't seem right looks like just Ross McCormack is out from their attacking players.

I think it's about time Duffy got on the end of a corner.

9/1 anytime 28/1 for first/last or 100/1 to do it twice.

Desperate late attempt to push the Knockaert tribute song. It isn't happening. And we have a minutes applause for the young Villa lad on 11 minutes. Much more worthy.

Knockaert had the tribute at Bristol. No doubt his normal song will be sang often and loud tonight but that's it. No further nonsense please.

Adomah - Kodjia - Ayew looks pretty scary, keep them quiet then I fully expect us to win.

They're talking about sending out a statement (Bruce and a few on their forum) so let's hope we can derail them and reinforce the statement we've been sending out all season
