FIFA refused to move the game to a neutral location at the request of Israel's FA , following arrests of terrorists planning some sort of attack , do FIFA think all terrorists have now been arrested or something ? FFS they really are a bunch of goons , yes it takes away Albanian home advantage but surely that is a small price to pay for the teams and supporters safety . Mental .

Exactly. What is the matter with the football authorities this day in age? No poppy on shirt etc.

Didn't the Pakistani cricket team move there home games or something due to terrorism threats?

Moved them to UAE after the Australian bus was fired at in Pakistan and Chris Broad (Stuart's Dad) also heroically involved being there as an umpire, if I recall right.

Mods:any chance this thread title could be changed to something less crass, that doesn't draw attention to an individual player, whether he's one of our own or whether he isn't ???

Agreed.

From the Argus:

Albion striker Tomer Hemed is involved in a security scare with Israel's national team.

Their World Cup qualifier in Albania on Saturday has been switched to a different stadium, according to reports.
Albanian security forces have reportedly arrested four suspects after uncovering an attack planned against the Israeli team by ISIS terrorists at the Loro Borici Stadium in Shkoder.

FIFA have sanctioned the Albanian FA's request to switch the game to the capital, Tirana.
An Argus source said: "Israeli security will be extremely tight once the team arrives in Albania. Some could argue the match should be cancelled."
Hemed is bidding to add to his tally of 12 goals in 25 games for Israel.

WTF are Israel doing in UEFA anyway? I don't care that nobody wants to play them, they shouldn't be Europe's problem.

Ah Godwins Law invoked by an Israeli sympathiser. Who'd have thought it?

Sorry, but Israel is in Asia and that's where they should play.

The AFC don't want them. They were in Oceania before joining UEFA. Kazakhstan is in UEFA too, that's hardly Europe.

Indeed, and they shouldn't be in UEFA either.

At least Turkey (and Russia) are both partly in Europe.

Australia left OFC/Oceania to join AFC/Asia. Surinam, Guyana and French Guiana play in CONCACAF/North America despite being geographically in CONMEBOL/South America.

I guess with Kazakhstan, part of it, albeit a very little bit, is west of the Ural Mountains.

To be fair to Israel. Jerusalem does have a statue of Winston Churchill remembering his generous support to Zionism.

I can see why they have become a part of Europe.
