Sad news. Oldies like me will remember him from the Kenny & Cash days. You may know him as the DJ who comes on to BBC Sussex after the Saturday football. His last show was Saturday.

Started out on Luxembourg, the pirate ships and then Radio 1. Only 74, which is no age nowadays.

Listened to him on the drive home last Saturday and he sounded fine. Must've been sudden and unexpected R.I.P

Such a shame. I complained to the BBC when they cut his nightly show and replaced it with a generic boring local radio show. Naturally the Beeb wasn't interested in my views as money comes first. But Dave was great.RIP.

One of the great DJ's - loved listening to him in the 60's, always played my kind of music.
When he was on Capital Radio in the 70's he had a show where you could call in live with a dedication.
On one occasion a guy called in and Dave said "Hello <John>, what's your dedication?"
The reply was "every time I **** I cough <ahem> (coughing noise)"
On another occasion the reply was "tell my girlfriend <Mary> that when I get home tonight I'm gonna screw the @rse off her"
Very shortly after that they introduced a short time lapse between broadcasting the "live" requests.
