I am heading to Wigan Saturday my first trip to the Rugby club and when teams in the aforementioned get success perhaps it shouldn't but it really bugs me!

I have nothing personal against the likes of Wigan, Hull, Blackpool or Bournemouth but when they struggle to fill Wembley (e.g. Hull/Blackpool - play off final Wigan - FA Cup Final) it winds me up big time. It makes me depressed that we are yet to reach the Premier League or even the championship play off final and I know for 100% we would fill our allocation. All of these teams have had recent success but are not that well supported in comparison to a lot of Championship / League One teams and I don't begrudge their success but I always think we could be in their shoes and would be a lot more classy!

I agree. League membership should be based on fanbase. Definitely.

That's Newcastle, Villa and Leeds deservedly promoted this season then.

We didn't sell out our allocation last time we were in the play off final.

You forgot the Massive. How could you forget the Massive?

I didn't - they (whilst obviously MASSIVE) still have smaller fan-bases than the other three, who by the OPs criteria, will rightfully be promoted.

We need a rule change so that for 10,000 at a game, the home team are awarded a goal before the game starts, that way Newcastle can start the game leading 5-0 and in PL Man Utd would start 7-0 that way only the biggest teams are successive as they should be, talent, teamwork and results should not really count. And a bonus goal if the game has been chosen for live Sky/BT coverage.

Find this post a bit embarrassing , talking like we are Real Madrid or something.

You think the footballing world will view us differently to these clubs when we get there. No chance. Most clubs still consider us small time and plastic and we're in championship. Go up a league be even worse.

What about when we couldn't sell out withdean , should we not of been allowed to punch above weight in the championship.

It does make me laugh when you read other sides forums and they all laugh at the delusion from our fans about how big we see ourselves. This post sums it up for me.

Sort of thing I'd expect to see on a Wednesday forum

I'd say the opposite really , the more unfashionable smaller clubs that can get there then the more we can dream too.

Are you talking about the third division playoff final over two hundred miles away when we were playing in a 6,000 capacity stadium, or the one at Wembley in 1992 when we had half the ground's capacity, but Notts didn't bring many?

Doubtless, Little Al has already scurried to BBS with news of this thread, so Palace fans can continue to use the Away Fans' End on that sad forum as an alternative to pornography.

We didn't have half the ground, we had around 35,000 and Notts brought 25,000 (although a large number of them came down wearing Forest shirts).

The former. If you are going to claim it was too far away for some to travel then Hull, Blackpool, Wigan etc etc should be able to use the same excuse with Wembley shouldn't they?

Either way not sure what difference it makes it's what you do on the pitch that matters not how many fans you bring surely?

In the 1991 playoff final we took 35k to Wembley, that's a bigger allocation than you'll ever get now. And we took a similar number to Cardiff in 2004. I think since the Amex, we have attracted a larger fan base and could take 40k to any play off or cup final.
