Sam Baldock reckons nobody is sure of their place

Sam Baldock believes he is fighting for his treasured starting place – despite scoring in a landmark win.
The striker reckons Albion’s squad is so strong now that few players are safe from being left out, even after a result such as the 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday.

Baldock lobbed the Seagulls into the lead as they enjoyed a first ever win at Hillsborough.
But Tomer Hemed will eye a start after scoring twice for Israel in their 2-1 win against Liechtenstein yesterday while Chris Hughton also has selection decisions to make in central midfield and out wide.
Baldock said: “We have got two quality players, at least, for every position.
“The competition for places is really high and the manager has shown previously that, even after a victory, he is not afraid to change the team around.
“He is going to see who is fittest and most appropriate for each game. We’ve got the quality in our squad to do that and we respect his decisions.”
Baldock and Jamie Murphy added pace to the Albion side as they looked to counter or get the ball in behind the Wednesday defence.
Refreshed by a break, they are now planning for home games against Preston and Wolves.
Baldock said: “He might look at the next game and feel a different shape is suitable or that we need to have a different approach.
“Hopefully, the longer things go on and the more we develop our philosophy and our shape and identity, we can stick with it from game to game.
“But this is the Championship and no two games are similar.”
