Blimey, that's the first time I have been called petit bourgeoise. We go to a mobile home on a campsite in France through the Tunnel.

It is cheaper than holidaying in Devon or the Lake District.

I take it you haven't taken cunning's (and Uncle Jacob's) advice and tried taking your car, caravan and all your kith and kin via Portugal instead, via the E-Gates?

It’s not our caravan and it’s too big to tow.
It has a verandah and awning with all mod cons.

French campsites are beautiful, not wide expanses of fields where you can see everyone. The pitches are hedged, flowers etc.

I flew to Portugal a couple of times.

So previously if you subscribed to Sky or similar content in your EU country, you could stream that service in another EU country. Not anymore for the UK. Another lovely little Brexit benefit.

I think it has been established beyond any doubt that the reality of the chosen Brexit has turned out shite for the ordinary citizen.

Sadly we are still waiting for a politician to fix it.

SO SAD

£6m spent dealing with Brexit and now nothing to support soaring energy bills

Answer - Move 1000 jobs to Netherlands, easier to do business and proper support in place. Energy bills capped at 5.5%

https://twitter.com/LBC/status/1559213230790156288

That doesn't ring true. What's the company called, for one thing? Why don't reports give its name? It's not to stop his employees finding out, because with info such as 11 storage depots exporting to Europe and the director is called Lee and lives in watford, there is enough info for all the employees to know who it is.

Where is the evidence of the 5.5% cap on price increases in the Netherlands? This Dutch site seems to believe they have the most expensive energy in Europe.

https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2022/08/dutch-gas-prices-are-now-the-most-expensive-in-europe/

Would a company really shut down 11 depots for the temporary advantage of prices which are less in the short term? Would a company director really believe that Dutch prices of energy (and they are heavily dependant on natural gas) are safe, in the long term, to be significantly less than the UK? Could a company that needs 11 cold food storage premises around the UK run the same business from Rotterdam?

There are loads of questions to ask before you start feeling sad about a company which may not even exist.

In the end the lure of the single market is too much.

Zero support for business with energy bills uncapped, government nowhere, Zombie PM on 2nd holiday in 3 weeks and nothing from the 2 wannabee Thatcher tribute acts. Enough is enough...

Netherlands have done well out of Brexit and it will continue...

You need to expand your political sensibilities to those outside the perimeter of those with sufficient where-with-all and accoutrements to venture to la belle francais la plage……...genesis of le petit bougouis in the first place.

https://www.socialistparty.org.uk/a...um-revolt-capitalist-establishment-shattered/

I quote……Following the EU referendum result we witnessed a public display of fury by the bourgeois ‘commentariat’ which expressed barely contained contempt for those who had dared to defy the powers-that-be and voted ‘Leave’.

Bourgeoise indeed………and on Brexit petit minded to boot.

Is this what you are now utilising as the metrics of unremitting Brexit failure these days?

I can remember the heady days of predictions of the hollowing out of the city, the killing of the golden goose, the queues of Bankers and brokers taking their bonuses off to Amshhterdem and Pareee………

https://news.cityoflondon.gov.uk/lo...competitiveness,a competitiveness score of 41.

This kind of mattress damping is beneath you……..it’s like watching Ali getting bashed up by Frasier.

Very sad.

Loving the leaked tape of Truss admitting using blaming the EU and migration as a handy tool for gaining votes..... oh, and lying shamelessly when confronted by the facts, and throwing Raab under a bus... She's perfect for the job of PM .

Johnson was a liar and a charlatan, it’s pretty evident already Truss is no different.

Again all about the ambition of one individual and nothing to do with the national interest.

Starting to wonder whether that bloke from Gillingham that didn’t get any MP votes would have been a better option

Bloody hell. That's.....grotesque.

I keep hearing the mantra from tory supporters of a certain type (noisy, resolute, strident, unapologetic) that all politicians lie so get over it.

Bollocks.

They also argue that the Labour party is wrong.

I don't ever hear them say the Labour party lies. If they did....I expect this will be a lie.

No. The current tory 'leadership' are the liars. Fact.

When cosplay Thatcher becomes PM they have 2 years and then they will be booted out. In the meantime....how much more damage will they cause.... in 2 years? A great deal. Bit hard to blame it on Covid and the EU, and immigrants, and unions. But they will.

Brace yourselves, people

Anyone still prepared to stand foursquare behind Johnson, Brexit and The Conservative agenda is either making money out of it by betting against the British economy ("Hi, Rishi!") or has fallen for the charms of cosplay Thatcher, and is as dumb as the black knight.

When proven wrong again and again, tis but a scratch.

The Tories benefit from voter apathy because they can rely on a hardcore of people who will vote for them no matter what. If they create an environment of dissolusionment where people believe political parties are all the same and bad as eachother, less chance of the electorate turning on them. They have full weight of the media machine to control public perception such as railway workers are greedy, millitant and not like you. The Tories want the strikes to continue to turn the public agaist eachother and create the race to the bottom where they can pay everyone less and less
