I know @Thunder Bolt would have posted this eventually but in case she doesn’t here’s something positive

The EU dug in on rules of origin and insisted on 55% of vehicle content needing to come from the UK / EU.

It may be that the EU has actually saved the British automotive manufacturing, critical mass is key

The best news in years for a sector that has very little to cheer about

Dissapointing news for many on this thread .... Job losses in Brexit voting Sunderland would have been gleefully posted numerous times.

It's excellent news and hopefully goes someway to offsetting this (from the same article)

UK car investment has fallen sharply since the UK voted to leave the EU.

In the five years to 2016 it averaged £3.5bn per year. In the four years since it has averaged around £1bn - a fall of 71% at a time when the technology and map of car production are going through their biggest revolution since the car was invented.

how does it fit in with no deal is better then a bad deal?

It does expressly say under no deal they would have upped sticks, a drum your side were banging in 2020.

The weather vain of brexit opinion does a 360 in the pursuit of "éxactly what we voted for"

it's great news compared against no deal, that allows you to see maintaining the status quo as success, and trade deals which are photocopies of the ones we already had vindicate a 200bn deficit and a divided country
