The original cast were superb but when old Partridge the kids entertainer and the original Geoffry Fairbrother left it was never quite so funny.

One of my favourite Croft/Perry creations.
They had the ability to not only make you laugh but actually be there as well, it would have been just like a holiday camp in the 50's.
As Beach Hut said, Fairbrother and the child hating Punch & Judy man Partridge were my favourite characters.
I was visiting a friend on a caravan park in Cornwall a few years ago and Paul McShane was there with his wife, he looked awful but we had a chat about Hi De Hi, told him how much i liked it, he was a nice bloke. He died a few weeks later.

The OP has clearly got to the age.

Carry on films are a must too.

What was the one set in Brighton called?

Agreed but went on too long.
True, it could have ended at least one series earlier but it was still good harmless fun.

The Gateau From The Chateau was probably my favourite episode, but there were so many funny bits all through the run.
