Some idiot wrote off my works vehicle last night whist it was parked outside my house, just drove straight in the side, can't work to everything I've got a new one. Spend all day chasing! Sorting and dealing with the aftermath!! Still, just about to set off for tonight's game and I could do with some cheering up!

I feel your pain, some woman lost control of her car in the wet a week ago on Friday, went over a junction and hit my van, came out saying "sorry sorry, my brakes wouldn't work", her insurance company are contesting liability, as a self-employed courier I have had to hire a van at £60 a day or I can't work. £500+ so far. Hope you get yours sorted, and we win tonight too !!

Sorry to hear that! I called the police because of the mess in the road. Plus I knew he would have to make a statement so could help my cause. My vehicle has a specialised unit built on so not as easy getting a hire vehicle unfortulently. Will cost me £5000 in the short term which I hope to recoup in the long term. And the bloke never apologised!!!

Assuming he stopped at the scene, no other property apart from your van was damaged, and nobody was hurt, there's no reason why he'd have to make a statement. All he's legally obliged to do is give his name, address and registration number. Unless something else was amiss, the police won't even create a report of it in those circumstances. It'll be for the insurers to sort out.

So what do we pay the police to do then?

OP must be wondering if his day is going to take another turn for the worse after what sounded like a dreadful 1st Half performance from the Albion as an attacking force.

To be fair I was expecting a dire game with very little attacking due to kayal missing....rather predictable as all the other midfielders offer nothing.

Lots of things, I think. But if your expectation is for the police to attend and investigate every minor crash that happens every single day on the roads around Britain, then I hope you're not also expecting them to go to other things too, like crimes & stuff.

I think perhaps you underestimate just how many prangs occur.

It was a tongue in cheek comment Edna to provoke a reaction but was not expecting a serious one. :)

The police attended my incident and took statements from myself, the other party and a witness. When I spoke to my insurance company the other day he said he could request the police incident report but sometimes it takes up to 2 months to release it. Why would this be ? Surely if the Police have attended and taken statements that would assist in clarifying details and speed up the insurance companies decision making. Better for everyone

He signed an incident report saying he made a misjudgement. I have passed the number off to my insurance broker. The airbags were deployed so police & medics were automatically sent by operator. Lady was suffering minor injuries too. A point was all we deserved tonight
