How Operation Yewtree became primetime drama, with Robbie Coltrane and Julie Walters.

It's hard to imagine this isn't going to be anything other brilliant.

A friend of mine is in this, and I've had a few spoilers.

The plot sounds intriguing and very good. I hope the writing and acting lives up to it.

It'll take a brave man to call out Coltrane & Walters acting abilities.

So that just leaves the script.

Not that this is relevant to the programme but I loved Stephen Fry's description of Robbie Coltrane's chat up technique in Fry's second volume autobiography.

"You have lovely small hands. I love a girl with small hands..........they make my c**k look even more massive"

When they cast this, do you think they were praying that whoever they chose for the lead role never turned out to be an Op Yewtree candidate himself?

So... anybody watch it? Thoughts? Top of the catch-up list here.

I saw it. Pretty much exactly what you'd expect so far, I guess - the set up. There are only three more episodes, so they're going to have to motor a bit, assuming we do get some form of verdict (or at least closure) in the last episode. We've not even seen the victim (no plot spoilers here) yet, except in a photo.

I thought Coltrane was good, but Walters was brilliant (and that's from a huge Coltrane fan). Their daughter looks like she could be excellent too, though she had only 1 scene last night.

The plot is mostly plausible, with one exception - would he really do that on the night he'd been arrested and bailed? Really?

The gldhi and I both plump for innocent, btw. Who needs evidence?

Know something we don't, huh?

Disclaimer: No, I know you don't - just a gentle tease.

Love Julie Walters. Always great value, whatever she's in. A national treasure in her own right.

I didn't realise this was on, missed it last night. One for Catch Up, I think.

Going to record all of them, to watch them at a later date.
Normally do this for this for programs like this, cannot abide to wait for next episode to be aired :)

I can't be bothered to watch it, but if Cracker gets away with it and all the accusations are disproved there will definitely be grounds for a conspiracy theory.

This could just be a tool for that powerful nonces/kiddy fiddlers/rapists are using to influence public consciousness against people making accusations.

Any thoughts from spring hall convert who'se NSC specialist subject he seems to have made his own?

Looks interesting. Decent cast. I don't really watch much TV though, especially dramas. I'm a busy man etc......

I'd be mightily upset if it were pitched in a way that would make survivors of sexual abuse less likely to come forward but from the look of it, I doubt that'll be the case.

Enjoy.

Interesting plot line when the Police tucked him up with the press by advising him to leave by the back of the station. Shades of Sir Cliff's house raid live on BBC News.

Really enjoyed this. Looking forward to how it all pans out.

On a similar note, I watched a Danish film called The Hunt recently. About a primary school teacher who gets accused of paedoing.
Very well acted and covers the witchhunt that follows. Bleak and disturbing, but well worth a watch,

Am I the only one who thinks this isn't particularly good?
Not one of the characters is likeable, from him and the wife to his daughter and legal team, all thoroughly unsympathetic characters.
I find it dragging in parts, too much filler. Parts one and two could easily have been abridged to one episode.
I'll stick with it for the acting but so far I'm not feeling it.

Re the post above. The Hunt is brilliant.
