Chris Hughton wants Albion to rediscover their identity following their 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday

/ Andy Naylor, Chief sports reporter

Boss Chris Hughton has urged Albion to rediscover their identity to spark a return to winning ways.
He says Saturday’s home defeat by Brentford “wasn’t a Brighton-like performance”.
The Seagulls get a quick chance against Championship leaders Huddersfield tonight to make amends for one of their most listless displays at the Amex in recent memory with a first victory in four matches.
Hughton told The Argus: “We started the game okay but overall we allowed a good Brentford team to have too many opportunities to score and it wasn’t a Brighton-like performance.
“We need to get a good reaction from the players, because it will be tough. They are in very good form at the moment. We will need to play well and get back to doing what we know we can do.
“We generally have a good team shape, have been well organised in how we go about things as a team and have been able to show at home an attacking ability to get goals.
“That’s based on quite a solid organisation. Unfortunately, we steered away from that on Saturday, but there will be numerous good teams that come to the Amex and that’s something we’ve got to learn to cope with better.”
Hughton does not regard Huddersfield’s hot early form as a flash-in-the-pan. The Terriers have taken 16 points out of 18, including a win at Newcastle, draw at Aston Villa and home victories over Brentford and Wolves.
“There were good signs from them last season,” Hughton said. “Their level of performance was very good.
They absolutely deserve to be where they are at the moment. They have a good squad and rotate the forward four.
“They are serious contenders. They have played some tough games as well, so I think you have to look at it that way.”
