Beram Kayal admits Albion failed to heed a warning as they suffered home defeat.
The midfielder felt all was going to plan in the opening quarter of the 2-0 defeat by Brentford.
But the game changed when Lewis Macleod sent Scott Hogan away for the opening goal.
Ironically, Albion had created more attacks in the opening stages than they managed in either of their 3-0 home wins over Nottingham Forest and Rotherham.
Kayal said: “We started the game much better and we felt like at home everything was going well.*We felt like we would score the first goal.
“But we spoke about that – we need to stop their counter-attacks.
“They scored on a counter-attack and the game started to be end to end.
“To be honest I think we have a lot of things to improve, especially how to keep a clean sheet.
“Then we can score the winning goal at any time.

“We were not solid enough as a team.”Kayal also felt Albion were lacking in the final third and regretted a chance he failed to take to shoot left-footed when well-placed.
He added: “In the second half we didn’t control the game like we normally do.
“We had a lot of half chances, a lot of things going on in the final third with our wide players and our strikers.
“But we were missing something in the final third.”
