CONNOR GOLDSON is on course for a rapid return to Albion’s matchday 18.
But the Seagulls will take their time with winger Solly March as he comes back from a far more serious knee injury.
Shane Duffy is set for a home debut in central defence when Albion take on Brentford on Saturday.
Uwe Huenemeier, who played an hour in the League Cup tie at Oxford and the full 90 for the under-23s at Southend in the Checkatrade Trophy, is also in the running for a place on the bench.
Albion boss Chris Hughton could throw Goldson back in after just one run-out since the first leg of the play-off semi-finals four months ago.
He missed all the pre-season friendlies due to a knee injury but got through an hour at Southend last Tuesday.
Hughton said: “Connor is training and he is fit.
“He has been out for a lot less time than Uwe. They have played games.
“They would certainly come into contention but those are decisions we make nearer to the game.
“Connor has only played one game but he has trained.”
Huenemeier was ruled out since last December by a groin injury and was not on the bench at Newcastle, despite travelling.
March, absent for a similar length of time to the German, has played in two under-23 games since returning.
He was not involved in the Southend trip and also sat out two recent training sessions to ensure he did not overdo things.
But he looks set to feature for the development squad at West Brom on Monday.

The under-23s then host Newcastle on Monday, September 20, in a game which has been switched from the Amex to Crawley due to the following night’s League Cup tie versus Reading.
Hughton said: “We decided Solly would miss a couple of days’ training.
“But he trained on Monday and is fine.
“We appreciate he has been out for a long time.
“He has got to get more under-23 games and more training before he is ready for the levels of first team matches.
“But they are all okay.”
