The attendance at St.James's Park last weekend when we played Newcastle. Was that the biggest attendance for a league match involving the Albion?

I know we've had bigger crowds for cup games and play-off finals, but I'm racking my brains to think of a larger gathering in a league fixture, even in our old First Division days. Anyone know?

I would imagine that a league match at Manchester United is the only circumstance in which that figure would be eclipsed.

I was at that game at White Hart Lane, bit of a tight squeeze! 0-0 score line and Barry Daines made a wonder save to stop us sneaking a win, if my memory serves me well.

We laughed when they announced that figure.
It was a classic Amex style pretendance figure.
Not a chance there were less than 2000 empty seats.

I went to both of those games. United went top of the league after beating us 2-0. The spurs game won't be forgotten for other reasons..

What are the other reasons? You're not thinking of the game at the Goldstone which involved all the terrace carnage?

I doubt there were 39,196 there.
