Think we had a solid window recruiting and protecting our assets.

How do you think the competition did?

The ones who came down have taken advantage of selling their assets for silly fees and then buying loads of potential quality with that money - let alone parachute payments. Oh and Derby of course just threw more millions at it cos they lost a few games... It's difficult for us to compete spending wise but we've assembled a squad that could be good enough to compete for top 6 at least...

Newcastle and Derby are 30 and 10 million richer respectively but lighter in key players. And Martin has gone to Fulham, Derby have taken a hit.

Derby seem to have come out of this a bit weaker, but only time will tell if this is true. Both Villa and SW may have strengthened their hands, but will it all translate to performance on the pitch? As Mickey Adams used to say, let's look at the table after eleven or twelve games. Then we'll have an idea of where we are and where the real competition is going to come from.
