I knew it was a bad idea to move away from this excellent system!

Highlights why we need to be going for more away wins this season.

James Wilson's last minute goal v Derby would have sent us up. :)

oh hang on..

nope we'd still have needed a point v Boro.

Swings and rounadabouts.

Under 3 points for a win, we'd have beaten Palace to the Second Division title in 1978-79 by 79pts to 76.

We'd have also beaten Spurs to third place in Division Two in 1977-78.

I will NEVER complain at these minor rule changes, if only because we benefitted massively from the most ridiculous one of all in 1997...

6 away games we drew last year where we took the lead might suggest we were going for more away wins last year

With goal average we would have needed to win at Boro

Goal average is goals scored / goals conceded isn't it? Ours would have have been 72/42, which is 1.71. Boro's was 2.04.

Yes..but I was agreeing with chaileyjems post that a point at Bro would have been sufficient ..rather than Percy's post saying a win

We only lost 5 matches and scored the most goals. Whatever way you look at it, we had a real good go last season and we were very unlucky not to go up. We have consistently been top 6 and show no signs of going backwards. As yet we haven't sold anyone we don't want to, unlike other seasons, and have a chairman who seems as determined as ever to get the Seagulls to the prem. Think it will happen, hopefully this season, maybe next. Regardless it's just great being in the mix.
