Apologies as report a few days old.
Never been a fan of half n half scarves per say, but Chelsea have won a legal case in which they have trademarked the name 'Chelsea'.
It means half-and-half scarves, also known as friendship scarves, which are popular with tourists but hated by many fans, bearing Chelsea's name can no longer be sold by street traders outside of Stamford Bridge, unless they gain permission from the football club.

Good news on the face of it. Until of course Chelsea start making and selling them themselves.

Could that ruling be extended to shops like Sports Direct with kit or do they pay a fee already?. Or do they make the shirt slightly, but not noticably, different so it isnt an actual exact replica.

Not sure BG, but I guess as it's a landmark case, the proverbial band wagon will ensue and all sports clubs will make there move to patent their name.
It might be good thing, if the monies are going to the club's coffers, or could go to charities?

I think it's a shame, half/half scarves always look so cool.

Maybe we could organise a 'Palace' one when we next meet.

I would have thought that all professional clubs would have the registered their names as trademarks and it would be up to them to take action against anybody using the name without permission, many will probably not think it worth taking action against small scale street vendors.

I think the exact opposite they look pathetic I support BHA and like Spurs but wouldnt consider having Spurs on a scarf. That is reserved exclusively for my 1st love in football BHA. Just my opinion.
53000 posts and you still don't know which are 'joke' accounts?

If someone produces an Albion half n half scarf (as in Albion/other team) whose trademark are they infringing, WBA, BHAFC Burton, Albion Rovers or the country

I wondered why NONE were on SAIL on Friday night, I have a MASSIVE collection of EVERY half/HALF scarf involving the Albion, 637 scarves. For FUN I sometime put them all on at ONCE but I look STUPID doing it

I would have thought you would have already looked (your words) "stupid" with the 637 scarves in your SAIL boat.

I would have typed exactly this. But substituted the word Spurs, for Arsenal.

All of the shirts sold in sports direct are licensed replicas, same you'd buy in the Chelsea (or whoever) club shop.

I think you'll find that the comment was deeply sarcastic.

But yes, you're correct they DO look pathetic. As the OP mentions they're hated by real football fans - which is everyone who has posted on this thread. However day-trippers (the sort of people who join in the Mexican waves at Wembley) like them, which is why people make them.

Probably no-one's unless they use some other distinguishing feature like a logo, image (eg seagull), unique combination of colours etc. Guess there may be a case that juxtaposing Albion with the name of our opponent on a given day and/or selling them close to the venue is of significance but I don't know enough to say. I sit next to an intellectual property specialist at work and will ask them. It is actually quite an unusual situation because in most cases the question is whether one trademark has been infringed; in the case of these scarves it could be two.
