I always thought the ball had to go forwards at the kick off...... hence there always being two players on the centre spot..... !!??

That is something I was not aware of, wish they would stop making pointless changes the ball moving forward of the line made perfect sense even if all they did was hit the ball 2 inches over it for someone to then pass it back.
