The Chinese make plans in ten year increments, making some choice policy decisions.
They put economic reforms before political reforms.
They have stayed out of wars.
Encourage their young students to visit more advanced countries like USA and Europe.
Massive economic growth.

The UK is a soft target for other people money investment. ???

Anyone who thinks the Chinese do anything for an altruistic reason are completely naive. Everything they do is about their own self interest and projecting their power, hard and soft. Personally I'm not comfortable at all with China being involved with anything here but rather a football club than a nuclear power plant. You can hardly blame them though, not so long ago they were being exploited by all the world powers, they won't have forgotten the Opium Wars, boots on the other foot, we need to be a bit more reticent in my opinion.
