While this isn't directly Brighton-related, it should interest you as football fans. We (artists Neville Gabie and Alan Ward) have been commissioned to produce a sculptural piece celebrating the first written rules of football, which were established in Cambridge in 1848. As part of that, we've built a website – www.cambridgerules1848.com – where we are exploring how a simple set of rules, from a small patch of ground in Cambridge, has grown into a worldwide phenomena.

As such, we're asking fans like yourselves to contribute unique and interesting football stories, from grassroots to the Premier League. It can be anything; a shirt that is special to you; a football moment you will cherish forever; an away day gone awry. We invite you to tell a story that means something to you, here.

We're especially keen to get fans in their favourite shirts and to make a Cambridge Rules 1848 'football card' for every team. Wear your colours with pride and be the first Brighton fan to do so. Your post will also be plotted on our map as we try to create a 'global football archive' – make sure Brighton is part of that.

This project will eventually culminate in a book and exhibition in which your contributions may be feature. At the very least you'll be part of a global football archive.

We hope you'll participate and the very best of luck for the upcoming season.

Thanks,
Cambridge Rules 1848
