Jiri Skalak enjoyed a goal-making return for Albion – but they went down to a 2-1 friendly defeat at Luton today.
Skalak, on his first appearance since playing for the Czech Republic at Euro 2016, had 45 minutes and sent over a trademark inswinging free-kick for skipper Lewis Dunk to head the Seagulls’ goal.
But a strike in either half by Jack Marriott gave Luton*the win.
The game was the first part of a double-header for Albion, who are also sending a side to Stevenage today (5.30pm).
First-team regulars are being split between the two venues. Gaetan Bong, Dunk and Glenn Murray were among those to enjoy 90 minutes at Kenilworth Road while Anthony Knockaert went off towards the end.
Marriott drilled Luton into the lead after just 25 seconds*when Albion gave the ball away at the back.
The Seagulls could have been further behind in a chaotic opening period as Cameron McGeehan headed over from close range at a corner.
But Anthony Knockaert sent a 25-yard free-kick on to the top of the bar before Dunk levelled in the 42nd minute from Skalak’s pinpoint delivery from the left flank.
Danny Hylton should have restored the home lead right on half-time with a free header which he sent wide.

Elvis Manu was inches from giving Albion a second-half lead when he latched on to a long ball and thumped a shot against the bar. But there were near things at the other end either side of that with Dunk clearing a Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu shot off the line and Niki Maenpaa using his right foot to deny Hylton.
Luton went ahead again in the 58th minute when Stephen O’Donnell received a short pass from a corner and delivered low to the near post, where Marriott was quicker than his makers and guided the ball home.
Albion: Maenpaa; Collar, Dunk, Cadman, Bong; Knockaert (Hambo 82), Sidwell (Molumby 68), Ince, Skalak (Bjordal 46); Manu (Starkey 72), Murray.
