Exactly this. In the short term it is all fine and dandy home "schooling" like that but those kids are going to have a hard time adjusting to real life once they're older. Good luck getting a job or into uni with zero qualifications.

They will most likely be unprepared emotionally too. Home schooling is fine with intelligent parents for a few years but these parents don't seem to have a clue.

Brighton / Hove actually
Shocked to see our friends are, apparently, still here. Does this mean they didn't raise the money for Costa Rica after all?!

I'm more shocked that she was breastfeeding a 5 year old. Or forcing her son to suck on her nipple as a PR stunt ???

Home schooled kids still take exams and should be following the same curriculum. There are groups for them to socialise with etc. You need to be really bloody organised as a parent, I've no idea why anyone would choose to do it if you're still living in the country as opposed to travelling around the world. Kids are hard enough when they go to school half the day, sod having them about ALL the time. Jesus.

Not only are they at home all the time, there are no everyday rules. Poor mites may end up in a young offenders prison if someone doesn't take proper care of them.

Not talking home schooled kids in general but that family in particular! Don't see them following ciriculum.

Good grief.

I read this with an open mind - but seriously - what the hell?

An 8 year old 'home schooled', who can't write his own name, and it's "not important - he can decide when to pick up his literacy skills". This is not okay. The kids are not getting a balanced diet. Monster munch and raw sprouts, is not dinner. This is not okay. Denying the children 'mainstream medicine' is not okay. These children are being poorly treated, much as the parents would obviously never accept that.

His assertion that their lack of TAKE from the state (they don't use schools or the NHS) somehow 'balances' their life funded by benefits, is disingenuous. They are downright lazy. Lazy spongers. For one thing, should he decide not to work to earn money, to buy proper food, he has a massive garden in his free house, none of which appears to be turned over to growing anything. If you want to pretend you're aiming for some self-sufficient dream, at least LOOK like you're making an effort. lazy prick.

One thing though - I wouldn't mind Stacey Dooley, 'sleeping over'.

So these two are home all day every day in order to spend that time with their kids, and their 8 year old is still completely illiterate. Excellent work.

Am I missing something here ? You would THINK that Social Services would've got involved at some point by now ?

I've a generally open mind as well , but I'm struggling to disagree with you . . . . However it's far more common to find deprived areas with ill/un educated families on benefits and living far less healthy lifestyles and taking all the advantages of the state. This just makes better car crash TV and rag articles.

These parents are failing their children, no education, no balanced nutrition, no medical care and no life skills.

I feel sorry for those kids, illiterate 8 year old come on! Parents are a bunch of dossers and are simply failing their children.
