One of our patio doors has been slightly misted since we bought the house, and I've been too lazy to do anything about it.

Now the same patio doors have become stuck - in terms of being able to pull the handle down to unlock and open the doors.

I've read about places that can supposedly repair misted uPVC units by somehow drilling a small hole in the glass and flushing through some chemicals or something. I've also read that this is generally not possible on units that are large, such as patio doors.

So, I'm guessing we need a new sealed unit in the door.

Does anyone have any experience with a local company that can remedy both issues. Or does it sound like I'll need a company to replace the unit and a locksmith to sort the handle/locking situation?

Thanks in advance etc.

Worthing
Worthing Windows came and did our patio door and installed a cat flap into it. Good, quick service and reasonably priced too (it was about 5 years ago though).

Have used Aftercare several times for blown panels and broken window locks - excellent service and reasonable prices. Will give you a no-obligation quote first

www.aftercare.me.uk

Don't know if they cover the Worthing area, but I'd very much recommend Aftercare too. Extremely impressed with their service when they fixed a broken window lock at my old place.

Edit: they do go to Worthing according to their website

This is my brother in law's company http://www.checkatrade.com/TheUpvcSpecialists/ based in Goring

I'll leave it for the check-a-trade reviews to vouch for his quality so as not to be biased. He is a Man Utd fan (a real one - he does go to Old Trafford when he can) but don't hold that against him!

Precision down by worthing crossing gates. Ask for Martin. Not the cheapest but best costumer service you'll ever get.

The Double Glazed Window Repair Co Ltd. Neil on 07812 102422. Highly recommended. Never does unnecessary work. Say Allan near his garages gave you the number.

My handle on our UPVC utility room door went yesterday too. It was the heat. I imagine it was the same for you. Need to replace the frame now too. Completely warped. Please let me know how you get on. If you have a good experience I'll use the same company. I like the sound of aftercare

Try this company they are in Worthing and have repaired all my 'blown' double glazed windows http://www.awares-repairs.co.uk/
01903 - 537991.

Thanks for this. They popped round promptly back in July and made good the stuck door, if only temporarily at the time, to allow it to be both opened and locked/secured.

With that sorted and both of us having holidays, we arranged for them to come round today to replace the door lock mechanism and replace the 'blown' window. They arrived bang on time this afternoon, are very friendly and seem reasonably enough priced. Highly recommended.
