Evening All,

Using my tablet right now as my laptop seems to have some serious issues. Currently running the Windows 10 operating system on my laptop.

Symptoms are confined to interweb use, slow, very slow, multiple pop ups again and again, not loading pages etc etc. Sometimes multiple pages open offering PC security, struggle to close these pages, other times the machine seems as though it is entirely dead. Last night I seemed to get multiple pages with a name a bit like 'zzz.misledairlift' or some boxxocks. I have run both quick and full scans using Defender but the scan comes back clean. Searching Google has hinted at downloading some repair gumf but it looks less than kosher.

Anyone had similar? Or, can anyone recommend a trustworthy repair/clean up type place in Hove? Thank you all in advance!

Download malwarebytes and try running it.. Does really sound like you have a virus.. make sure defender is up to date as well..

You definitely have a virus. Malwarebytes is a first to try to rid your pc if you can get to the page to download it.

I use defender too and haven't had anything breach it yet.

I do a full scan once a fortnight using online scanners.

Trend Housecall is a good one and so is the one from Eset.

Go into Task Manager and see if the disk is running at 100% most of the time. If so you have a hard disk that Windows 10 has a bug with. Google "windows 10 task manager disk 100%" for the step by step way of resolving it.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

My Mrs said that I should type that I had done this before some other 'bright spark' suggested it. I said that I had faith in the good folk of NSC that no one would be soooo predictable, I should listen to my Mrs more!

Well, with some effort of closing window after window and fighting with the machine I managed to download the trial version of malwarebytes. Twenty minute scan found 164 potential issues!!!! The machine seems to now be running OK but I will check further tonight. The 'bugs' have now been quarantined prior to removal and I shall probably pay for the full version this evening.

Should I just run Defender alongside Malwarebytes, or maybe install AVG to give even further protection?

Thanks everybody!

Just a final thank you to all. Laptop now equipped with Malwarebytes premium service along with a free Anti Exploit jobbie which combined with Defender should be enough to keep me safe ish, or so I am told. All running better than it has for weeks.
