I agree, as bad as last night was this was by no means the first England flop at a major tournament. Since 1966 we have beaten one other World Cup Winner in normal time at a major tournament and we've never won a knockout game at a European Championships outside our own country. For a country with the footballing heritage and resources it has at its disposal that is staggering. This runs far beyond the manager of the national team.

Greg Dyke had long ago announced he was leaving his job in July.

honestly what do you think that they can do better? what does a resignation acheive, other than to allocate some blame and pretend that resolves it? and what is "it" that needs to be fixed?

Agreed, I feel like Dyke was trying to change something and found himself repeatedly running into brick walls. The FA is a shambles.

Sooner or later i hope that tiny plucky Iceland will actually get some recognition for how they have been playing and not for the abject performances of the teams they have played so far , as predicted Iceland did a job on us and we were lucky to get the 1 . The FA are a complete joke of a organisation run by yes men who work for Murdoch rather than what they are employed to do , which is to improve at all levels domestic football and to implement the basic rules of fair play and conduct , as usual in such things they are lacking in both areas in fact a laughing stock . Joke organisation .
