I don't get how they know Italy will top the group surly it's possible for Belgium to isn't it ??
Nothing to lose Jim. We can't beat the likes of Russia & Slovakia as they defend, defend & defend. At least we'll now face teams who'll attack us and give our forward players some space. We recently beat Germany & France - let's do it again. Roy is a genius!

No. Because placings are decided on head-to-head records first. So, even if Italy lose to Ireland tomorrow and Belgium beat Sweden, they would finish on level points but Italy would be guaranteed to finish above Belgium by virtue of beating them 2-0 in the first group match.

For teams level on points then they are split by head to head result so Italy will win the group cause they beat Belgium 2-0

All you'll find is that these teams can both attack and defend unlike Russia and Slovakia.

Well at least missed the mini foursome of Germany, Italy and Spain and Slovakia (probably). it could have been worse. Feel for Italy whose reward for beating Belgium is a round of 16 tie against Spain, beat them and it's Germany in QF.
