Made these games a farce, teams concentrating on not losing.

Slovakia had no reason to attack tonight, nor Switzerland last night.

24 teams is here to stay.

And next time, there is no host country - Euro 2020 is being played across 13 different capitals (London, Rome, Baku, Munich, St Petersburg, Amsterdam, Dublin, Bucharest, Bilbao, Brussels, Glasgow, Copenhagen, Budapest). So group games scattered to the winds, and then a 2nd round game god-knows-where, with about 4-5 days notice to sort tickets, transport and accomodation. Good luck following your team round that then.

Played 3 teams who had no interest in winning a game .all were after a draw . But saying that we will win the next match but get knock out in the last 8 because we did not win the group and will get a decent team in the last 8 , and will lose heroically or on pens but if we won the group the draw would be easier .just goes to show our attackers are not as good as we think they are,

And that is the correct answer

Not to mention security. England vs Russia in Glasgow anyone?

It's not been our strikers that have missed the majority of the chances

We've certainly not benefitted from this format, but it has kept things interesting. Russia could still have gone through which meant Wales weren't playing against a team just wishing they could go home. Well, in theory. See also Albania last night.

I'm indifferent. Maybe sometimes they should host a 16 team tourney and sometimes 24 depending on who is hosting. The problem with 24 teams is that it rules out smaller nations from hosting unless they join forces.

If we reach the last eight then the chances are whoever we get will be a decent team.

The 16 team format made it a strong tournament and a tough one to win.

This new format has made the group stage a bit dull imo

At the 2014 World cup, everyone was saying how open and attacking the Group stages were and the general feeling was that it was the best we'd seen. Barring the odd exception these group games have been teams set up not to lose with a fair few nil nils or low scoring wins.

Roll on the knock out stages.
