Some half decent support acts, 20,000 people at £25 a pop. Midday 'til 10pm.
Piece of piss.

Scheduling will have played a big part. The Cure are in America this month and Australia start of next. Turf at the Amex also needs relaying, so window for opportunity for The Amex to host gigs is extremely narrow.

Maybe could have been arranged post play offs and pre turf laying.

Perhaps the economics don't stack up too and that's why we haven't done anything this year.

Why the **** have we not got The Cure playing there this summer?

Because it needs promoter to seek a deal with the bands management, enter an agreement over the date and fee, Then similarly seek an agreement with the stadium to see if these dates are avallibe and if the figures work, do a deal then check with local athourities and police for there agreement and that the bands management are happy to play at the venue and sell the tickets.
There are many things that can break the long chain.
There is no reason why you can't be that promoter.

As I say, piece of piss.

The gig-holding aspect of the Amex does appear to be somewhat underused. Dare say there are some residual LDC-imposed restrictions that the club are still bound by, but, really, these should robustly challenged and kicked into touch. There's a big Summertime marketing opportunity being missed there, with or without SASTA deigning to provide their crummy services.

Great idea. I haven't seen them for 25+ years, but really keen to see one of their drawn out sets which would be immeasurably enhanced by seeing the chubby one laden in blue-and-white stripes.
