Blo*ody love it.
As much as we all know about Pogba -- who put in some sublime long balls, and one pornographic pass tonight -- and Kante whose sleights of body movement to open up space are delightful, and that's before mentioning his work rate, what about Matuidi?
There's something about him that reminds me of Kayal, the way that he uses his body to dominate space, the ball and the opposition. He can pass, he's all over the place, has pace over short distances (again, like Kayal), and there's great movement too.
And, despite all this, none of them were anywhere near Payet tonight who was simply stunning.

It was refreshing to see France with the same disease as England, that is playing your most influential player out of position. Once Deschamps found the cure at half time and moved Payet into the middle everything looked better for them. Pogba was trying too hard but did play some sweet balls. Kante is a machine, beautiful to watch that man play.

Romania looked solid, particularly at the back and were unlucky to not get something out of the game.

Spot-on. I've never heard of Matuidi until yesterday, but he caught my eye along with the other three you mention.

Bit of an odd comment. I'd imagine quite a few teams at the Euros would absolutely love a Dele Alli of their own. He's had a fantastic season and in only a few international appearances already looks set to be a firm fixture in the team for many years.

Meanwhile only a handful of lesser teams would likely start a Rooney of their own. Not even sure he'd get in the Romania team

Our depth of midfield is appalling compared to France. And yes, quite a lot of Euro teams would. Albania, Romania etc etc...

I'm not saying we have a better or even comparable midfield. But to pick on Alli seems totally unjust. If you're going to comment on our weaknesses then I'd say Milner and Henderson are the obvious choices in terms of players that wouldn't get in the squads of the likes of France, Spain, Germany etc.

Alli is only 20 years old and already looks brilliant. I think there are plenty of sides who'd love an Alli of their own. He is far from a weakness for England

To be fair, he's 29, been at PSG for 5 years, and played and scored at the last world cup.

He's rated as one of the best midfielders in Europe, and Chelsea and Man Utd tried to sign him last summer for £35m

At tournaments, Rooney isn't very effective, just two goals since Euro 2004. A first choice striker should be bagging more than that.
