Not seen this before but if true it makes for grim reading.

The individual in question supposedly studies football law and claims the following.

In the event of GB leaving the EU, any players within the Eurozone will need to have earned a percentage of caps in the last two years, to sign for a club in the UK.

In other words if true the signings of Knockheart, Vicente, Kucszak, Calderon, Ulloa, Bruno, Orlandi, Hemed, Spanish Dave would not have been possible.

Anyone else heard of this? Is this something to do with the need for work permits?

If he's right, English football will change dramatically with a greater reliance (and premium) on home grown talent.

Could we be seeing the demise of the foreign import outside of the BPL?

What a load of BS. Just more trite to make stupid people vote IN.

It would work however our country wanted it to work.

We would also do a deal with the EU on trade, and that would include the free movement of people within the EU, so they'd still be able to work here.

You've just handed Barber his latest lame excuse"we were going to sing such and such but because of an out vote we couldn't."
Teflon Paul blags his way through another piss poor season.

But isn't one of the major reasons for voting out that there wouldn't be free movement of people to the UK from the EU?

So your saying that by leaving the EU we are going to sign up to the one thing that prompted the Referendum in the first place.

That makes sense.

Errr. What planet are Brexiters on. You will do untold damage to our economy in exchange for what? Free trade and free movement of people. We are in trouble people. Get out and vote to remain if you don't want to be a bit part player that suddenly finds it has to do the things bigger powers want, like China, the US and the EU, just to sit at their table.

Exactly this. No benefits but a weaker position.

What a load of BS. Just more trite to make stupid people vote IN: that's nice, normally resorting to such insults indicates a last desperate attempt at an argument, so it's all the more strange given it's the OUT campaign that has the momentum and the passion at present

It would work however Boris Johnson wanted it to work: corrected for you

Your last sentence has been adequately dealt with on this thread, but thought I'd add the first two comments

Anyone who bases their vote on what, if any, impact it has on the Football Club they support probably shouldn't be allowed the vote in the first place.

Well I reckon people have the right to vote how they like for whatever reason.

Perhaps it's better than just voting how a lying politician wants them to ? ???

Or possibly something to make people vote leave...fewer foreign players, more British players getting into top teams and once again England becomes a force in world football. The evidence is there: 1966 England win; 1970 England narrowly beaten quarter-finalists; 1973 join EEC; 1974 fail to qualify.

Its not really about how it affects THEIR club though, is it? It would affect all clubs equally - its about how it would affect the industry as a whole.

One of countless industries, in fact.

I tend to agree with the sentiments however no one is really suggesting that this would be the only reason someone should vote remain, it's one of many.

As to the right to vote, I have no doubt there are many that vote in general elections do so on the back of headlines from their favourite daily rag!!! That is the system we have.

Wait, wait, wait...are you saying that this referendum thingy could have potential impacts on things outside of football? I don't buy it.

Wasnt the limited on non British players brought in during the 90s?

So what went wrong in 1990 & 1996 when we made the Semi's of the World & European Cups?
