I actually would have been interested in volunteering for a role as counting officer for my local area. In fact I emailed the Electoral Commission to ask them about it, but turns out I'm out of the country from Thursday evening so I wouldn't be able to anyway.

Yeah I'm doing the referendum but not the count - should be OK as long as it's reasonably busy
I'm jealous. I have always wanted to do a general election or something like this.

Believe me as someone who has done every local, general, European and referendum for the last 50 years, it's the most boring day you can imagine. I'm pretty sure this will be my last although it should be busy which might make the day go a bit quicker.

Did some local and general elections when I was in branch banking years ago........council thought we would be able to count bits of paper quickly I guess. Was reasonably well paid back in the day.
