My 2 cents on our team next year

Hi

I thought that I would throw my 2 cents in and this is start 11 and subs that we need next season. What do you think, who should we keep and who do we need to get us up?

25/30? Hmm how much the transfer fee and wages etc

Excellent planning to have TWO keepers on the bench. You can never be too careful.

22 players on the list after the end of the month, 23 if we include Glen Rea.

Second striker to replace James Wilson (youngster?) No idea who?
Midfielder to replace Steve Sidwell (Sidwell expected to be on the shortlist, but not at the very top) Forster-Caskey predicted to depart if the new player is signed. (I can think of a left-sided midfielder to fit into our style!)
Holla unwanted = 23
O'Grady unwanted = 22.

So three new players if no one leaves.Could be as many as six for the shortlist. Save five to leave room for another player should someone become available.

Left-sided midfielder
Second striker

Mobile target man

Fourth midfielder, defensive (so Dale Stephens can push forward)
Left-sided defender/full back cover.

If Manu leaves I would like us to sign a speed merchant (at worse he stops the opposing left back from overlapping)

Formations:

4-4-1-1 (possible with a mobile player upfront)
4-4-2 (well, it did well against the dross)
4-2-3-1 (defensive like Boro?)
4-3-3 (if we sign another class midfielder)

We are going have to sign players to make up the numbers. And every team in the world is looking for that clinical second striker!

I think the easiest way would be to get our current players to learn how to play total football and be less specialist and more flexible

Like learning how to play keep ball (like we used to) when winning.
Lualua getting nearer the goal and being more central as he is good with both feet (showed promise early last season).

So draw up up a short list of five with two first team players amongst them.

I can think of a a few players, but not the magical second striker.

I can't think of a mobile striker, other than Hemed to lose a few pounds and run around a bit more. It seemes to make it easier for the rest of the team of we have focal point striker. It also makes it easier for the opposing defence!

So that is three signings minimum.

But if Forster-Caskey and Holla depart thats five.

Two keepers and 9 subs in total. Is this a new rule for everyone or are we going to try and stop the other team and ref from noticing.
