Alexander Scott "Alex" Gilbey - DoB 9/12/1994. An English midfielder for Colchester United who progressed through the Colchester United Academy. His manager Kevin Keen promoted him to Vice Captain and likened him to a lower league Steven Gerrard, saying Gilbey would "be a Premier League player" in two or three years.

Gilbert is out of contract this summer and will be leaving.

We've been linked to him along with a number of other Championship teams. But with both Ince and JFC likely to leave this summer we could do worse than taking a closer look.

Gilbey could well be of interest. But who says Ince and JFC are on their way. We sent them out on loan to get more experience. Job done, especially for JFC. They are young lads. Man U did the same with Lingard - whatever happened to him? Neither is an obvious fit for our current team set up, but who knows what plans CH has for them?

Sound Fulham fan suggested on social media that Ince was a done deal before he went to Vegas.

Point taken. However, despite Andy Naylor probably being 'in the know', this article is speculation. Must say, I worry that JFC and particularly Ince could both go on to be top quality players, but elsewhere as we can't accomodate them in Chris's system. But hey, maybe it's one of the risks of building a lean, high quality squad to go one step further in the season ahead. Maybe too, it would be further evidence of CH's ruthless streak and determination to release the funds to do so.
