NSC opening new tabs?

Four or five times recently when scrolling through the list of threads with Firefox a new tab has been opened as if by magic. Nothing on the tab, not even recently visited sites, just a blank new tab.

Anybody else getting this?

Just happened again, twice!!! in the url bar the new tab simply says about:blank

Chrome on my phone keeps having to block pop ups, assumed it was ads but might be the same here.
