The Football League has announced proposals to introduce four 20-team divisions to replace its current three 24-team divisions, in time for the 2019/20 season.

Are the Prem going to go to 18 as well?

I think they should also consider regionalising the lower 2 divisions again. Not sure how promotion/relegation would work, but it would surely save a fair old wedge of cash for the lower league/smaller clubs

They say it'll boost the finances of lower league clubs, even with fewer games during a season.

Any ideas of what they mean?

"It is about taking a step back to try to work out what is best for English football."

The 92 club system isn't the issue. There problems are elsewhere.

Don't get it. The bottom, say 6 teams, in Div 2 are just staying alive. How can adding 8 more struggling teams help?
And "The Football League says the move would tackle fixture congestion" I wouldn't say there was any real congestion except when a team are still in a cup or Sky move a game to within 2 days of another.
"and boost the finances of its members." how? Take 4 teams away from each league and that's less games and less money.

Where are the extra eight FL teams coming from?

Doubtless the current Conference. Which is no bad thing given how comfortably many of those teams have survived in the league.

The Conference is effectively League Three anyway.

Huge clubs with big grounds - Lincoln, Tranmere, Wrexham, Torquay etc. With BT Sport showing around 30 games a season, they rely heavily on the TV money. I don't see it being a benefit to that division. Nearly every club is full time as well.

Perhaps, once again it will be the perennial conference teams who are part time that will suffer.
Our football pyramid is fine as it is why mess with it?

If the bottom two leagues are regionalised then this idea works. More Saturday games, more local games. Probably increased attendances.

The problem with British football has always been the focus on quantity over quality. Think this could be a small step in the right direction.
