Time to gamble

Tony Bloom and Chris Hughton deserve enormous credit for what we've done this season. Wouldn't be surprised if Bloom goes for it financially over the next few months. Need to keep our key players as well as bring in the necessary quality. Bigger contracts etc. Team after team have put two fingers up to FFP and gone up and got away with it. If you can't beat them....

Thanks to Eddie Howe for lending us Glenn Murray, when he never had any intention of playing him again this season. Hope he never requires a favour off us.

Great effort this season from the lads. So close:clap2:

Have no desire to join the PL if we have to cheat to get there

The time to gamble was in the January window.

Yes, we got Jiri and Knockheart, but we didn't get in a quality striker, which ultimately cost us.

Here we go again...calls for a well-run club to suddenly go off the deep end and spunk the cash. Don't do it. Plenty of clubs have loaded up on expensive 'talent' and ended up with a worse TEAM than they had before. And then they are stuck with a stupid wage bill and still haven't reached the promised land of moronic TV money. Get the academy producing home-grown talent and do it the proper way. And bargain hunt and set up a good scouting network. Better to spend £5m per year on a Europe-wide scouting network to find undervalued/overlooked quality than to gamble on a single starlet with an attitude.

Top post, Boro would have been screwed if they failed to go up.

Boro had Ramirez on loan from us for most of the season and he was arguably the difference between Albion and Boro in the end. That is certainly one way to go about things if the chairman really wants to spend. Find prem players who can't get a game and do a deal with their club to pay half the player's wages. We signed Ramirez from Bologna the start of the season we went up and paid £15m for him and gave him 50k a week. He has been a total non-entity for us. I am sure there are plenty of similar players who are draining a prem club's coffers without kicking a football outside of training. Just don't sign them. The loan market can be (if judiciously used) your friend.

Define gamble? Hemed (1m) scored more since Xmas than Rhodes did (8m).

The only gamble required is to keep the vast majority of the team at the club. A few clever additions as we did in the last 2 xfer windows and we will be well set.

Except that you are not allowed to loan players anymore

Fair point. Just the frustration of tonights result seaping out. Might need to bend the finances to keep hold of some of our gems with the odd wage increase. Our club is in safe hands that's for sure.

As Leicester have proved money is not the answer

I would say the same about us, we just need to add a small amount of quality possibly at not a lot of cost, some very astute signings this season
