The Benefit of Points Achieved

As we finished 15 points ahead of Wed I have an idea for future seasons.

Once places 3 to 6 are decided and all matches played there is a "benefit" applied to the score at the end of both legs of the points difference. For example for every full 5 points difference 1 goal is applied, i.e. if 4th plays 5th and there's only 4 points difference no weighting is applied, however, in our case this season 3 goals would be applied.

So, what do you do in the final?

Or all teams play each other once, i.e. three games.

3rd play all theirs at home
4th play 2 at home
5th play 1 at home
6th play all away

It's Friday, I'm nervous, I'm rambling, I'm very nervous, I'm really rambling

Every point you finish ahead of SIXTH means a goal start so we start tonight 15-0 , that sounds FARE to me
That would only make losing 16-15 harder to take.

As I said on another thread, forget 6th place. 3rd should go straight to the final with 4th and 5th playing off to make the final.

What makes it particularly unfair is that the other teams got to rest players, while we got them suspended.

I would change it for next season as follows

1st Auto
2nd Auto
3rd Straight into play off final
4th vs 7th
5th vs 6th
6th vs 5th
7th vs 4th

So does the third place team have to play the winners of both 4th. versus 7th. and 5th. versus 6th., or do they have to wait for yet another match to be played before they come into it? Just how long will they have to wait after the end of the season? Perhaps they should just go off on their summer holidays and be summoned back whenever the rest have worked out who they're going to have to play.

Match to be played in flip-flops, perhaps?

3rd into final.......4th,5th,6th...plus the 3rd relegation place from the premiership in the playoffs......

They used to involve the 3rd bottom Prem team years ago.

But now I'd have it;

6th plays 5th at 5th's ground
Winner plays 4th at neutral ground
Winner plays 3rd at Wembley
Wembley winner up.
