I'm doing some jiggery pokery behind the scenes in the way new joiners to NSC are handled.

To do this, I have to make some changes to the Usergroup that the existing 22,000 or so NSCers are in.

You may get a warning message about not having permissions to post/reply or, well, pretty much anything for a short period of time. If you do, don't worry, I know and I'll fix it. It won't be specific to you and it won't be personal.

I'll post here again when I'm done so if you are having any issues beyond that you can let me know (via email).

Did you limit new registrations starting threads? It was suggested that new users should have to post a minimum of 100 posts before being able to start a thread.
That may cut down on the abuse factor.
