Who would win in a battle to the death? Owls are sturdier, but seagulls can be vicious. If you covered an owl in chips and ketchup I don't think it would stand a chance. That said, the peripheral vision of the owl would allow it to anticipate the attack sooner and make necessary preparations. Plus, their beaks may be bigger.

Well worth a thought.

Erm, ever been out on the beachfront with a sandwich or a ice cream?. They are the most aggresive bird there is. Name another that will go for you if to try and touch their young or get that sandwich out your hand??

All depends on the owl and the gull.
At a falconry-type thing in Poynings a while back, I had an eagle owl sit on my hand. It didn't do much, or weigh as much as you'd think either, but it oozed menace with the casual air of a beast that knows it would rip chunks out of you, if it could only be bothered.
I'd back a herring gull against most species of owl. Not an eagle owl, though. Wouldn't last a round.

Always has an effect. The town is best avoided on the full moon.

Seagulls almost everywhere else in the country are half the size of the seagulls in Brighton due to all the rubbish left out for them to scavenge.
