Interesting. I haven't been able to find out when the survey was done, but current political factors -- e.g., one million refugees -- will in all probability have affected the German response.
The more interesting question is what, if at all, is the long-run shift in conceptualisations of identity. The movement is almost certainly towards global or supranational, and away from national. That said, this is not a simple story: there has been a rise in the number of nation states in the past few decades, but increasingly, there's a recognition that the key problems confronting us are supranational and, even more so, global and, in addition, the media, communications and the Internet, alongside transport will reinforce this shift.
