We win next two = 90 points
Boro win one and draw one = 90 points
Burnley win one and lose one = 87 points.

Cue the friendliest 0-0 in history on the last day to take us both up?

Middlesbrough could finish on 92 points, that magic 2 points a game for promotion - but not be promoted!

Burnley have Charlton and QPR last 2 games.. Difficult to envisage them dropping points, my opinion is we win our next 2 we are still in it come the final day no matter what. Get our games won and if it comes down to winner takes all VS Boro, then so be it.

Can't see beyond us needing to win at Boro. A play-off before the play-offs.

Burnley's game on Friday away at Preston is the real banana skin for them - a Lancs derby ! If Preston can sneak a win and we win our next 2 then a draw at Boro would do us !

People making annoying assumptions about Boro are starting to irritate me. There's absolutely no guarantee whatsoever that they'll just be happy to play out a friendly draw if we both need a point. Especially not with the prospect of a winner allowing them to lift that Chamionship trophy in front of their home fans. There's also no guarantee they'll roll over if they're already promoted before the last game. IF they're already promoted AND champions, then perhaps maybe they'll give us a break but there's absolutely no guarantee of that either.

If we go into that game thinking Boro are gonna give anything less than 100% for any reason there could be some very disappointed Brighton fans come the final whistle.

As a manager, if you knew the opposing team needed a draw and you also needed a draw, what kind of style of play would you employ? It's fair to assume if we both need a draw that we could easily get one. Borough will keep it very tight and most of the play will be in the middle of the pitch. It would be an interesting game to watch.

All about beating Charlton. Forget the rest. 3 wins to Premier League.

But we can all be Preston fans on Friday.

You mean the friendliest 0-0 since Southampton and Tottenham carved us up at The Dell on the final day of the 1977-78 season ...

Can you imagine the bitterness on display in the post match interviews conducted by the ginger dalek? It would be hilarious.

Yeah but imagine if you played for the draw and someone pops up with a wonder goal ala Skalak in the 92nd minute. Whoops suddenly Boro are watching us lift the Championship trophy in front of their home fans and checking the train prices to Sheffield.

If you want your destiny to be entirely within your own hands you pick your most attacking line-up and tell your boys to get out there and win that trophy.

actually it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect:
1) burnley draw vs preston with us and boro winning MB 89 pts, US 87 pts BRN 85
2) Birmingham to hold MB to 0-0 draw, we scrape 1-0 vs derby (we usually find them tough to bread-down) and burnley trash QPR then we have MB 90 (on gd) , US 90 BRN 88
3) Final day BRN will hammer Charlton giving them 91 points and a better gd than us so only a win for us would do.......BUT WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

How about we smash Charlton, and then take Derby apart to get to 90 points. Preston turn Burnley over in the Lancashire derby and Ipswich, desperate to keep their play-off hopes alive surprise Middlesbrough and beat them. Birmingham end their season with a flourish, and score a 95th. minute winner against 'Boro at St. Andrews, and Burnley have two sent off and only manage to scrape a draw against QPR. Then Brighton are promoted as champions.

Or we could just concentrate on beating Charlton...............................

Not even thinking about the final round of matches yet. Just beat Charlton and see where we are after that, I'm just hoping that Burnley have now used up their allocation of stoppage time goals

Unbe-f*cking-lievable.
