Does anyone still think 87 points will be enough for auto?

With 11 games left there was a lot of discussion about whether 87 points would be enough. I was firmly in the No camp (and still am). My feeling was 8 wins and 2 draws would be needed, leaving us on 90 points. So far we've managed 5 wins and 2 draws and I still feel another 3 wins (minimum!) will be needed.
Anyone disagree?

Said ever since February, 90 points will be needed due to our goal difference. Likely to be 91 needed now.

Majority were saying 86/87 which is way off by using statistics which is completely Irrelevant.

For 89 points to be enough, burnley would have to go on the worst run of their entire season by picking up 5 points from 4 games (including Charlton to play).

Boro delivered a knockout punch to Hull; they never recovered from the 1-0 loss.

Boro's 0-3 destruction of ourselves almost saw us drop out of the play-offs with a terrible run of form but we had time to pick ourselves up from the canvas.

Burnley are pretty one dimensional, I can see Ayala and his defence keeping their set pieces out. If Boro beat them, will Burnley be able to recover or will they be out for the count? We can help them throw in the towel if we beat QPR & Charlton.

It looks way off now, but that's only because the top 3 have had great runs.

For 89 points to be enough, burnley would have to go on the worst run of their entire season by picking up 5 points from 4 games
For 89 to be enough for us, yes, but 89 might be enough for Burnley.

That's not actually true, Hull were in trouble before then, winning 3 points from the previous 4 games - they've got 7 points from the last 4 games.

Our bad run of form coincided with our injuries, it wasn't because of losing to 'brough.

Of course I hope that's what happens to Burnley, but it doesn't look likely.

In The Premier League Era, excluding the 94/95 season when only 2 went up, the highest points totals for finishing 3rd have been:

Sunderland - 1997/1998 - 90
Portsmouth - 1992/1993 - 88
Ipswich - 1999/2000 - 87
Bolton - 2000/2001 - 87
Ipswich - 1998-1999 - 86
Wolves - 2001/2002 - 86
Norwich - 2014/2015 - 86
Derby - 2013/2014 - 85
West Ham - 2011/2012 - 86
Ipswich - 2004/2005 - 85
Derby - 2006/2007 - 84
Watford - 2005/2006 - 81
Sheffield United - 2002/2003 - 80
Sheffield United - 2008/2009 - 80
Swansea City - 2010/2011 - 80 (Cardiff finished 4th on 80 points also)

Swings-and-roundabouts though as Hull City went up 2nd on 79 points in the 2012/2013 season, for example.

It's not hard to understand, you got it wrong.

Will 87 points be enough? How many will be enough?

We want the amount required to be as few as possible.

The question you answered was 'how many points will we get?', which wasn't the question.

What a ridiculous season. Not one team running away with the title but 3 teams pushing hard for 2 automatic places.
