Shortlist is Vardy, Mahrez, Kante (all Leicester), Kane (Spurs), Ozil (Arsenal) and Payet (WHU).

When was the last time (if ever?) the shortlist included NO players from Man United, Chelsea or Man City?

I wouldn't grumble if any of the first four won it.

Vardy - a break out, steller season. Even when he's not been absolutely magnificent, he has tended to pop up with the goal that has won games - Lineker-esque.
Mahrez - has scored or assisted HALF of Leicester's goals this season. Hard to see what more he could do.
Kante - frightening to think he's France's FIFTH choice midfielder. He has absolutely run so many Leicester games this season
Kane - second season, still producing the goods. Like Vardy, has renewed optimism for England fans in the summer. The real deal.

Ozil and Payat have been great, but not up to the standards of those four.

What an exciting and refreshing shortlist.

Mad to think Ozil with EIGHTEEN assists and clear by SEVEN isn't on there. That's not a complaint, that's just a sign of how good the other 4 have been.
