The Albion manager on tonight's game and a look ahead to the remainder of the season.
It was good to get it from a set-play and it didn’t seem to be the type of game where there were going to be many chances."
Chris Hughton
Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton hailed a superb response from his players following the 2-1 win over Birmingham City tonight.Like Albion, the Blues were aiming to recover from the disappointment of conceding a last-minute goal at the weekend, and Hughton was delighted to see his side recover from a goal down at St Andrew's to claim all three points.
He said, “Birmingham had the disappointment of conceding so late in their game [on Saturday at Charlton], and we knew their tails were going to be up, so it was a really good result tonight.
“Their goal was unfortunate for Stocko [David Stockdale], who has been excellent for us this season, but these things happen and you’re looking for a reaction.
“It was good to get it from a set-play and it didn’t seem to be the type of game where there were going to be many chances.
“It was about the team that had that bit of control to put them in, but it was a really good response to conceding.
"They [Birmingham] are scrapping and they’ve had an excellent season being around the play-off positions.
“They have recruited well in both windows and when you look at their squad, it’s better than what they’ve had before. He’s [manager Gary Rowett] done a super job and he’ll want to fight right until the end.”

The Seagulls boss reflected on the overall progress his side have made this season and looked ahead to some of the remaining games - including a trip to Middlesbrough on the final day.“We had a very good start to the season where we went a long period unbeaten, but probably had too many draws.
“Then we had a difficult period and that’s when you start to look at the characters in the side and where you’re going to get some goals from.
"We then started to get some goals and we managed to keep that momentum going.
“There’s going to be some results that go for you and some that don’t and certainly the Hull result [losing 4-0 to Derby tonight] was a surprise, but that’s how this division is.
“I hope the Middlesbrough game is a meaningful one. I know they have a lot of home games in their run-in and they’re going to be very strong. We also play Derby in the second to last game at the Amex, so we certainly have a tough run-in.”
