Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18s saw their four-match unbeaten run come to an end following a 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United on Saturday.Mackenzie Heaney’s brace, either side of a Sam Golan header, was enough for the hosts to claim all three points.
Owen Gallacher had a chance to break the deadlock for the hosts inside the first minute, but goalkeeper Bailey Vose made a smart save.

Jordan Maguire-Drew was the first to threaten for Albion after he cut inside but saw his effort saved by Newcastle goalkeeper Ben Smith.

David Ajiboye twice came close to breaking the deadlock for the Seagulls before a Max Sanders free-kick was tipped over the bar by Smith.Heaney gave Newcastle the lead shortly after the break as he made a surging run towards goal and slotted home past Vose.
Golan equalised in the 70th minute after he headed home George Cox’s free-kick, but they were only level for a minute as Heaney’s superb left-footed shot from distance nestled in the top corner, leaving Ian Buckman’s side beaten for the first time in the final stage of fixtures.
