I may well have to replace our aging gas fire for a newer design however the current space available is only 18in Wide,Depth 14in and only 19-1/2in in Height. Therefore it is an Inset fire, but the height is a real problem. Any genuine advice/help please.

Ask a Gas Safe registered installer to come to your property to give you an estimate.
Hopefully you will not be attempting to do this work yourself.

No,we have done all that. The problem is the Height available is just short of 20 ins and looking online that is not enough height more like 22/24 ins is needed to fit an Inset G/Fire.
